In his speech, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the Government continues to emphasise its commitment to strengthening national unity, implementing comprehensive institutional reforms and combating corruption to ensure that Malaysia emerges as a great and stable nation in the region.

According to him, the country’s peace and stability achieved today is the result of close cooperation among partners in the Unity Government, clearly proving that the true strength of the nation lies in team spirit and leadership with a clear direction.

“We are capable of doing remarkable things because we work as one solid team, encompassing all states, and led by fellow Cabinet Ministers in charting a clear direction.

“We must have confidence in the capabilities of our people and our nation, and understand the strength of the civil service as the main pillar in realising these noble aspirations, thereby elevating our country as a great nation in the region,” he said at Dewan De’ Seri Endon, PUSPANITAPURI, Putrajaya.

Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim further urged that firm action be taken to combat corruption and administrative misconduct involving politicians, civil servants, military personnel and security forces without exception.

“Firm action must be taken against all parties involved without exception, and full support must be given to all enforcement agencies, which can only be done while power is in our hands.

“However, enforcement agencies are reminded that while we must act firmly and severely against criminals and the corrupt, we must respect the rule of law and be more responsible in complying with regulations and not violating them,” he added.
