HRH the Sultan of Perak officiating the opening ceremony

SERI ISKANDAR, 14 May 2026 – HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah officiated the opening ceremony of Seri Iskandar Hospital here today.

His Royal Highness was accompanied by HRH Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.

HH Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and HH Raja DiHilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah were also in attendance.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad and wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad and wife Datin Seri Azlin Heri, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja, Gen (Rtd) Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin and wife Toh Puan Datin Seri DiRaja Puan Sri Hajah Rasiah Md. Nor, Perak State Assembly Speaker Dato’ Seri Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid and wife Datin Seri Aznee Abu Samah, Perak State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim and wife Datin Che Fauziah Ahmad, Perak State Legal Adviser Dato’ Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, Perak State Exco Members, Deputy Health Minister Dato’ Hanifah Hajar Taib, Health Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, Perak Health Department Director Dato’ Dr. Feisul Idzwan Mustapha, Perak State Territorial Chiefs and heads of state and federal departments.

The ceremony began with the singing of the Perak State Anthem, followed by the recitation of holy verses from the Quran before Sultan Nazrin officiated the opening and signed a commemorative plaque symbolising the opening.

After the session, Their Royal Highnesses visited the exhibition area, attended a banquet and toured the Seri Iskandar Hospital building before departing.

Earlier, Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad in his speech said that Seri Iskandar Hospital, built at a cost of RM162.3 million without any delay, is a sincere contribution of the government in supporting the vision of a Prosperous Perak.

“This hospital brings a ray of hope to more than 94,000 residents across 12 subdistricts in Perak Tengah and if in the past, senior citizens from Pasir Salak or mothers from Pulau Tiga may have had to travel long distances to seek specialist treatment, now, a world-class healthcare facility is right before their eyes.

“It was also reported that nearly 40,000 patients have already sought treatment here, and this figure is a testimony of the importance of this hospital as a ‘Lifeline’ for the local community,” he said.

Officially starting operations on 11 December 2024, Seri Iskandar Hospital was developed to replace Changkat Melintang Hospital, which had been operating since 1971.

The hospital is equipped with various modern facilities, including a Maternity Ward, Hemodialysis Unit and High Dependency Unit (HDU) to strengthen the delivery of health services and improve the quality of life of the people.
