HRH Sultan Of Perak Performs Friday Prayers With Students, Educators In Conjunction With Teachers’ Day Celebration : 15 May 2026.

IPOH, 15 May 2026 – HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah attended Friday prayers together with more than 2,000 students and educators in conjunction with the National Teachers’ Day Celebration at Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II (Perak State Mosque) here today.

 

The arrival of His Royal Highness was welcomed by Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad and Education Malaysia Director-General Datuk Dr. Mohd Azam Ahmad.

 

Also present were Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja General (Rtd) Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin, State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato’ Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Exco Members, Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) President Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini, Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) Director Dato’ Harith Fadzilah Abd. Halim, State Territorial Chiefs and heads of state and federal departments.

 

After performing Friday prayers, Sultan Nazrin graciously mingled and shook hands with members of the congregation before departing.

 

Earlier, Datuk Dr. Mohd Azam Ahmad led educators and teachers in delivering the Friday sermon titled “Guru Berhikmah Membina Insan Sejahtera.” The sermon highlighted the role of teachers who are likened as carriers of the message of Rasulullah SAW and noble individuals whose contributions in educating and shaping society are invaluable.

 

According to him, the nation has set 16 May as Teachers’ Day to honour the dedication, sacrifices and services rendered by teachers in fulfilling their fardu kifayah responsibility of educating, guiding and nurturing students.

 

“The greatest teacher is Rasulullah SAW. He educated his companions wisely, educating not with harshness but with noble morals, patience and wisdom until the best generation was born. His approach represents a method of wise education, in line with verse 125 of Surah An-Nahl recited at the beginning of the sermon, and thus succeeds in producing people who are prosperous in this world and the hereafter,” he said.

 

In a related development, Sultan Nazrin has consented to 625 educators and teachers in the state to deliver Friday sermons in conjunction with Teachers’ Day, celebrated on 16 May each year.

 

At the same time, the Education Department also organised a mosque enlivenment programme participated by about 2,000 students and educators, involving spiritual motivation sessions for students as well as the recitation of Surah Yasin, tahlil and doa selamat.
