IPOH, 27 May 2026 – HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah performed Aidiladha prayers together with about 1,000 worshippers at Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II (State Mosque) Mahadi here today.

Also in attendance were HH Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa; HH Raja DiHilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah; HH Raja Kecil Sulong Perak, Raja Dato’ Seri Ahmad Nazim Azlan Shah Raja Ashman Shah and HH Raja Kecil Tengah Perak, Raja Dato’ Seri Iskandar Raja Ziran @ Raja Zaid.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja General (Rtd) Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin, State Assembly Speaker Dato’ Seri Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Exco Members, Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) Director Dato' Harith Fadzilah Abdul Halim, Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) President Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini and heads of departments and agencies.

State Mosque Chief Imam Abd Farid Salleh, who led the Aidiladha prayers, also delivered a sermon titled “Ibadah Qurban: Lambang Penyucian Jiwa”.  The sermon emphasised that every ummah is tested by Allah SWT with things that we love, and without us realising it is the nature of arrogance.

The preacher further stressed that arrogant people feel they are better, then arrogantly reject the truth.

“Arrogance makes it difficult for us to accept reprimands, difficult to admit mistakes, then the tongue is too heavy to utter the words, ‘I was wrong, or I have made a mistake, or I apologise.’

“Iblis went astray not because of a lack of knowledge, but because of arrogance. The refusal to prostrate to Adam AS stems from the arrogant statement, ‘I am better than him’” he said.

He added that slaughtering arrogance requires a willingness to be humble; willing to admit that we have made a mistake and choosing to apologise, even though our hearts are still heavy; choosing to remain silent, even though we are able to counter an argument; and being open to accept that other people’s views are better than our own.

“May this Hari Raya Aidiladha not only see the sacrificial animals be successfully be brought down to earth, but also the arrogant nature that has long been allowed to live in us, and the arrogance that has blinded our souls,” he said.

After the prayers, the Sultan graced the Hari Raya Aidiladha Reception at Dewan Bandaran Ipoh nearby.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar’s wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja’s wife Toh Puan Datin Seri Diraja Puan Sri Hajah Rasiah Md. Nor and State Assembly Speaker’s wife Datin Seri Aznee Abu Samah.
