The Perak Menteri Besar officiating the Perak Youth Assembly  Launch Ceremony

IPOH, 18 February 2021 - The Perak State Government is targeting 600 registrations from candidates to represent the 59 state constituencies in the Third Perak Youth Assembly 2021/2022 session which is expected to convene in the second term of this year.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad said registration for the nomination of representatives and voters has started on Wednesday via online completely.

“In this session, there are some reforms and improvements made where each DUN needs to have representatives from the youth and focus on eight groups, namely school youth, higher education youth, career youth, youth group, mass youth, international Malaysian youth, minority youth and at-risk youth.

"The Perak Youth Assembly sitting will be held at least once a year, where the motions tabled, debated and approved in the assembly sitting must be accepted by the representatives as projects that need to be implemented" he said.

He said this at the Perak Youth Assembly Launch Ceremony, held virtually at the Menteri Besar's Office in Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.

He added that youth play an important role in the state development chain from the economic, social and political aspects as well as being the catalyst for the progress of a state.

"This Youth Assembly is also an important platform for the youth to voice their idealism in building and prospering the state.

"Speak up, especially on matters that touch the people’s interests and contribute fresh ideas to address the issues of poverty, income gap, unemployment, cost of living or any constraints that affect the people’s lives, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic" he added.

At the event, Dato' Saarani also announced the appointment of Trong Assemblyman Jamilah Zakaria as the Youth Assembly Speaker.

For the nomination and voting of representatives, the Youth Assembly will use the online platform via the website http://dewanbelia.perak.my completely in line with the new norm.
