IPOH, 19 March 2021- Many people have used the court to right their wrongs by using various arguments and lies to deny their criminal acts.

HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah said that by making Islam only as outer clothing, they continue to lie despite having sworn in the name of Allah to speak the truth while answering questions in the witness box.

He said they were also willing to pay high legal fees as a result of money obtained through criminal sources or criminal acts.

“Acts of cheating, stealing, smuggling, breach of trust, corruption and evading taxes also have implications for other individuals and the people of a country.

“Unfortunately at this time, because Islam is more used as outer clothing, many people do not feel afraid to commit sins and are not afraid to face the torment of the grave and the torment of Hell.

“Even people who have committed various crimes and sins, used the court to right their wrongs by continuing to lie despite having sworn in the name of Allah to speak the truth while answering questions in the witness box.

"Often, when brought before the court, people who have committed sins, find various excuses and use various arguments to deny their actions of having committed sins," the Sultan said.

He said this at the Presentation of Appointment Letters to Perak Syariah Court Judges and Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) Members at the Darul Ridzuan Islamic Complex here today.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, MAIPk President Dato' Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini and Perak State Executive Council members.

Also in his speech, HRH Sultan Nazrin Shah said the youths should be given the trust to be actively involved, be at the forefront, rejuvenate the programmes held to inject new dynamism.

“History has also recorded the charisma of young leadership creating success when given the opportunity as proven by Muhammad al-Fatih, who ascended the throne of the Ottoman Sultanate at 19 years old.

"At the age of 21, he managed to conquer Constantinople. Alexander the Great inherited the throne of Macedonia at 20 years old, while Salahuddin al-Ayubi became the Sultan of Egypt and founded the Ayubbiyah Dynasty when he was 37 years old.

"Hence, the youths must be engaged, their voices heard, their views understood and their presence recognised, so that the programmes organised in the name of Islam are more relevant," he said.

At the same time, taking a lesson from various sources on the youths’ important role in creating history, HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah consented, for the first time, to appoint two people to represent the youths. 

With a man and a woman as the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council members, and the appointment of another female member, MAIPk now has three female members.
