The Menteri Besar delivering his speech at the Perak State National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Launch Ceremony 2021.

IPOH, 11 August 2021 – Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad called on the people to raise the spirit of patriotism as a sign of our solidarity in fighting this invisible enemy.

He said this when officiating the Perak State National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Launch Ceremony 2021, conducted virtually at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.

“Every year when approaching the National Day celebration, it rekindles in us the importance of the spirit of patriotism and love for the country. For me, in a country facing the threat of COVID-19, this spirit of patriotism is of utmost importance.

“The instilling of the spirit of patriotism is not only an important element in building an independent nation, but also able to foster harmony among the people in confronting challenges such as the great threats we are facing today.

“The Jalur Gemilang symbolises our loyalty and unity as Malaysians. Let us all enliven this National Month celebration by flying the flag at home, office buildings, business premises and even on our vehicles,” he clarified.

He also welcomed Perakians to participate in activities such as the National Day Elocution Contest, National Month Fun, Kahoot-Quiz Online, Smule Patriotic Star, Online Crossword Puzzle, PerakFM Merdeka Celebrity and PerakFM Merdeka Quiz. There are also educational programmes, including the online Merdeka Talk Programme and Info on Wheels Merdeka. Information on the activities will be disseminated via Facebook of the Perak Information Department and Perak State Secretariat.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato’ Zulazlan Abu Hassan, State Youth, Sports, Communications and Multimedia Committee Chairman Khairul Shahril Mohamed, State Exco members and State Information Director Mohd Taib Ubah.

Meanwhile, the Menteri Besar also expressed his sympathy on the sad news of the death of family members, friends, neighbours and close acquaintances. Also to the small traders who are still struggling due to the loss of livelihood as well as children missing school for months due to the outbreak of COVID-19 disease. 

"Currently, the vaccination programme is seen as the only way to get us out of this crisis. Each of us has a role to play in achieving the goal of herd immunity. Make sure every family member, friend, neighbour or any of our acquaintances work together to achieve this mission,” he said in his speech.
