Perak Government Recognises, Values Role Of Youth: 8 December 2021

IPOH, 8 December 2021: The Perak State Government has always given recognition and appreciation for the role and great contribution of the youth by holding the Perak State Level National Youth Day Celebration.

State Youth, Sports, Communications and Multimedia Committee Chairman Khairul Shahril Mohamed said the youth form almost 68% of the country's workforce and represent almost 47% of Keluarga Malaysia population.

“This decade is your decade, is a very significant theme and it continues the previous legacy to be the motivator for the Keluarga Malaysia youth to be more dynamic and committed in planning for the future.

"It demonstrated the government's determination to work together with the youth who are the main contributors to the direction of national development," he said at the Perak State Level National Youth Day Celebration at the Convention Hall, Hotel Casuarina@Meru here.

Also present were Perak Youth and Sports Department Director Mohd Soufi Mohd Ibrahim and Perak Youth Council President Aswannudin Hariffudin.

Khairul Shahril said it has been almost two years since the world and country were in a state of pandemic, causing the youth to be restless and anxious thinking about the taking of test after test.

"Some have lost their jobs, businesses have collapsed and living conditions have become uncertain until some have stress and mental problems.

“To solve the problem, the government being very concerned with the fate that befell the people and the youth is offering various initiatives, such as the Malaysian Family Assistance (BKM) announced by the government in Budget 2022.

"The assistance is one of the main focuses in the tabling of Budget 2022 and is expected to reduce the burden of the people, including the youth who were affected by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic," he added.

Earlier, Khairul Shahril, representing Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, presented the Perak State Level National Youth Premier Award (APBN) 2021.

A total of seven special awards and three existing awards set by the Ministry of Youth and Sports were presented. Among the Youth Special Award Leadership Category were:- Volunteerism, Entrepreneurship, Skills, Disability, Orang Asli, Sports Activists and individual categories for men, women and youth organisations.
