Canal City Development A Catalyst For Batu Gajah’s Identity.

BATU GAJAH, 26 January 2022 - The RM1.5 billion Canal City development project saw the reopening of economic activities, including the property development sector in Perak.
The 130-acre development at Spanish Gardens by the Water, by Team Keris Berhad (TKB) and Silverland Capacity Sdn Bhd, opposite the Silverlakes Village Outlet was inspired from Cordoba, Spain would surely enliven and spur economic development and growth in the area.
Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said since its launch in the first quarter of 2021, the Spanish Gardens by the Water project has recorded good sales performance due to support from buyers, financial and real estate institutions, indicating the potential for faster development in Batu Gajah area in the future.
"The new development can also be a catalyst for Batu Gajah's identity as one of the leading tourist destinations with the existence of shopping malls, various food and beverage (F&B) industries and construction of unique housing gardens near beautiful lakes," he told reporters here.
The construction of the first phase of the shopping mall, Silverlakes Village Outlet, has started in April 2017 on a 13.2-hectare area and is expected to be operational this year.
The first phase would include the construction of a four-star hotel with 220 rooms and a convention centre that can accommodate 1,200 guests.
The mall, which will feature 150 international brands and chains, would also create 800 to 1,000 job opportunities, especially for the people in the state.
Meanwhile, TKB also contributed RM100,000 to Yayasan Bina Upaya (YBU) Darul Ridzuan as the company's corporate social responsibility initiative. RM50,000 of the contribution was for flood victims and the remaining RM50,000 for the basic food aid programme for the hardcore poor in Perak.
