IPOH, 3 March 2022 - The Perak State Government has allocated RM465,000 for the Fun to School Programme 2022 to help primary and secondary school students from underprivileged families prepare for their school needs.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said this was the second time this year the programme has been organised.

“The state government continues this programme as it is really effective in helping the needy prepare their school supplies.

"The state government in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) will identify eligible recipients for each State constituency," he said.

He said this after the Perak Fun to School Programme 2022 Launch and the Perak Women and Community Development (Wanita Perak) Secretariat Opening Ceremony in Bandar Meru Raya here.

Also present were the Menteri Besar’s wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubir, State Financial Officer Dato’ Zulazlan Abu Hassan, State Women, Family, Community Welfare Development Committee Chairman Datuk Dr. Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin and Perak Puspanita Chairman Datin Che Fauziah Ahmad.

Dato' Seri Saarani added that the programme, implemented throughout Perak on 19 February 2022, was expected to be completed before the school session begins on 20 March 2022.

“The aid will benefit 3,100 students, comprising both male and female.

Male students will receive a shirt, pants, shoes, socks and a backpack, while female students will receive a shirt, tudung (Muslims), shoes, socks and a backpack, he said.

Meanwhile, the Perak Women and Community Development Secretariat or Wanita Perak is an institution specially to address issues related to women's development, community welfare and overall social wellbeing in Perak.

Thus, members of the public or NGOs who need advice, information and clarification on women's development can contact the Perak Women and Community Development Secretariat or come personally to its office at No 5, Jalan Meru Bestari A14, Medan Meru Bestari, 30020 Ipoh from this March.
