TAPAH, 17 October 2022 - HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has consented to the dissolution of the 14th Perak State Legislative Assembly.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said this in a press conference at the Batang Padang District and Land Office Operations Room this morning.

"It is my pleasure to inform the media today that I have received a declaration letter from HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfurlah, which means His Royal Highness has given the consent to dissolve the Perak State Assembly with effect from Monday, 17 October 2022," he said.

He added that today's statement refers to the press statement on Wednesday, 12 October 2022 in relation to the dissolution of the 14th Perak State Legislative Assembly.

"In the press statement, I informed that I have submitted a letter requesting for the dissolution of the 14th State Assembly for the consideration of HRH Sultan of Perak in accordance with Clause 2 Article 36 Part One of the Constitution of the State of Perak; and the Sultan has decreed that any decision on the request for the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly will be announced after His Royal Highness agrees to make a decision," he elaborated.

The Perak State Assembly was dissolved to make way for the 15th General Election (GE15) after Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob received the consent of His Majesty The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for the dissolution of Parliament on 10 October 2022.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, Tapah District Council President Ahmad Roslan Mohamed Nazir and Batang Padang District Officer Ahmad Redhauddin Ahmad Shokori.
