IPOH, 12 December 2022 - State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim officiated the Malaysia Greening Programme: The 2 Millionth Tree Planting Ceremony by the State Secretary at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan this morning.

The programme proved that the state government has once again successfully committed to meeting the challenge of planting 10 million trees in 5 years or 2 million trees a year until 2025.

He added that the state government has allocated RM48.8 million this year to make the Perak Greenprint initiative a success.

"The Greenprint initiative was designed specifically to develop a master plan to ensure balanced development in the state in line with the State Structural Plan (RSN), i.e., to address the issue of climate change through tree planting initiatives throughout Perak.

"The 'Perak Bumi Lestari' agenda is also able to drive the state’s development in a sustainable manner that includes the 3Es - Environment, Economic and Equities," he explained.

Meanwhile, he and the other guests also planted several types of trees, namely the Merbau, Ipoh and Pulai Trees in front of Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.

The guests also have the opportunity to take home Mangosteen Trees in line with the 'One Citizen, One Tree' Initiative which can be adapted to the concept of 'Our Trees, Our Life' to give awareness to the people to love the forest more.

Also present were State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, Peninsular Malaysia Forestry Department Director-General Dato' Indera Mohd. Ridza Awang and Perak Forestry Department Director Dato' Mohamed Zin Yusop.

To date, Perak has successfully planted 4,211,936 trees to support the 100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign from 2021 to 2025 under the Malaysia Greening Programme by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA).
