Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad winding up the debate on the Perak Budget 2023 before being passed.

IPOH, 28 December 2022 - The Perak State Assembly today unanimously passed the State Budget 2023 totalling RM1.19 billion during the First and Second Meeting of the First Year of the 15th Perak State Assembly at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.

The motion passed under the Supply Enactment Bill 2023 and Development Fund Proposal 2023 was unanimously supported by all the State Assemblymen present.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad today wound up the debate on the Perak Budget 2023 before being passed.

He said the Perak Budget 2023 is very important to determine the state government's level of preparedness in weathering the turmoil of economic uncertainty at the national and global level.

"It will also be an indication of our ability to create momentum to succeed in all the plans embodied in the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan," he added.

He said the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan was inspired and formed to achieve three main targets, namely social wellbeing, economic growth and political prosperity; including justice to the people to get opportunities and facilities for education, employment, housing and security.

"Strategies, flagships, programmes and initiatives formulated in this plan ensure the inclusion of various racial compositions and socioeconomic levels.

"Besides the balanced distribution of targeted development throughout the state through branding and district specialisation," he said.

State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid announced that the Perak Budget 2023 was passed in the second and third readings after the State Assemblymen expressed their unanimous agreement without amendment to the budget.

Meanwhile, the Perak State Budget 2023 tabled on 22 December saw a budget with an estimated operating expenditure of RM794 million and development expenditure of RM395 million.

The development expenditure has increased by 30.8% to RM395 million compared to RM302 million in 2022.
