Perak Government Launches Self-Sufficiency Aid, Student Emergency Aid.

He said the allocation increased by RM1.4 million compared to only RM600,000 last year.
IPOH, 8 February 2023 - The State Government through the Tuition Cikgu Saarani (TCS) Programme launched the Undergraduate Self-Sufficiency Aid and Emergency Aid with an allocation of RM2 million.
The launch was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.
He said the allocation increased by RM1.4 million compared to only RM600,000 last year.
"It covers an allocation of RM1.5 million for the Undergraduate Self-Sufficiency Aid and RM0.5 million for the Undergraduate Emergency Aid programmes.
“The Self-Sufficiency Aid is divided into two phases, phase one starts today until 10 March 2023, while phase two will begin in August or September," he said at a press conference today.
Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad added that the aid involved giving between RM500 and RM2,000 to full-time undergraduates from the 2nd semester onwards for diploma, bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctorate degree at higher education institutions recognised by the Public Service Department and Malaysian Qualifications Agency.
The Undergraduate Emergency Aid is an initiative to help students facing calamity or disaster with aid not exceeding RM5,000, depending on emergency cases subject to terms and conditions.
"All qualified Perak-born undergraduates can apply online at the link www.eheyns.com.my/bantuan-khas-mahasiswa," he said.
He also said the state government will continue the Student Food Aid programme under the TCS initiative with an allocation of RM2.8 million, benefiting 28,281 students from 256 schools throughout Perak.
"It involves 24,694 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students, 2,484 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students, 75 Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) students and 28 Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) students.
"Through this programme, all exam candidates involved will be given lunch assistance for 20 days when attending extra or intensive classes throughout the examination period," he explained.
Earlier, he received contributions from five Perak government-linked companies (GLCs), namely Perak Water Board (LAP) and Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (PSADC) which each contributed RM1 million, Menteri Besar Incorporated (RM700,000), State Secretary Incorporated (RM500,000) and Perak State Development Corporation (RM200,000).
Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah, State Women, Family, Social Welfare and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Salbiah Mohamed, LAP manager Dato' Isaac Abdul Rahman, PSDC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak, PSADC Group Manager Yahanis Yahya, MB Inc Chief Executive Officer Anuar Zainal Abidin and SSI Acting Chief Executive Officer Zulkefli Abdullah.
