IPOH, 21 March 2023 - The Perak State Government is focused on responding to technological challenges by becoming the first state to implement the business licence digitalisation initiative (myPATIL), which will be implemented by all 15 Local Authorities (PBT) in Perak from 2023.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said myPATIL is a business premises licence based on the internet of things that has been pioneered by the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) since 2021.

"myPATIL aims to make it easier for traders to obtain and renew business premises licences without having to go to the PBT counter.

“This smart application also acts as a forum for communication between the PBT and licence holders, thus saving time and energy," he said.

He said this in his speech at the 2023 Perak Local Government Colloquium Programme.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Exco members, Ipoh Mayor Dato' Rumaizi Bahrin and Presidents of the State Municipal and District Councils.

Dato' Seri Saarani added that the data technology from the myPATIL system has also successfully curbed licence forgery and tackled leakages that have long been an integrity issue in local authority enforcement over the years.

"For example, business premises in Manjung no longer need to display printed business licences, as all licensee data and business activities can be monitored directly via a digital chip.

“The chip will be stored in the premises and linked to an application controlled in real-time online from the smart device of each authorised officer," he said.

Meanwhile, after two years of successful implementation proving the effectiveness of the technology service, the State Government has agreed to invest more than RM2 million as support for the PBT in Perak to implement the myPATIL initiative this year.
