IPOH, 12 August 2023 - HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah presented awards to Muaythai exponent Mohd Rifdean Masdor and cyclist Nyo Chi Hui, the Perak State Sportsman and Sportswoman 2021/2022.
Sultan Nazrin accompanied by HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim graced the Perak State Sports Awards 2021/2022 Ceremony at Casuarina@Meru.
The arrival of Their Royal Highnesses was welcomed by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad and wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Jen. Dato' Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Dr. Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin (Bersara) and State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim.
Also present were State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee Chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah, Perak Sports Council Director Mazlan Mohamad and heads of departments and agencies.
Mohd Rifdean, the gold medalist in the 48 kg category at the 2021 IMFA World Championships in Abu Dhabi, and Nyo Chi Hui the gold medalist at the 2022 Asian Youth Track Cycling Championships in New Delhi, each received a pair of blazers, a trophy and cash incentive of RM7,000.
At the ceremony, another 10 awards in various categories were presented by Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad and Khairudin Abu Hanipah.
Among them were the Most Promising Sportsman and Sportswoman Awards, presented to sprinter Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi and tennis player Shitomi Leong Xi Xuan, each received cash incentive of RM3,000.
Meanwhile, Muaythai coach Bernard Radin received the Best Coach Award, Best Team was won by the Tun Abdul Razak Cup Hockey squad and Sports Leadership Award was won by Tengku Datin Seri Noor Hazah Al'Hajjah Tengku Abdul Aziz Shah Al'Haj (Lawn Bowls).
The ‘Jasamu Dikenang’ Award was awarded to the hockey legend Foo Keat Seong, Sports Family Award to Mohammad Arifin Abu Bakar (Pentanque) and Media Award to Sayed Hesham Syed Idris, a reporter for Utusan Malaysia.
The Best Male and Female Para Athlete Awards were presented to Mohd Asraf Mohd Haisham (Athletics) and Nur Jannaton Sarnoh (Archery), each received a trophy and incentive of RM7,000.
The Challenge Trophy for the Overall Champion in the Perak Sports Carnival (SUPER) 2023 was won by Kinta District.
