IPOH, 30 August 2023 - HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah presented Perak Mosque Consultative Council (MPM) appointment letters to 55 people at Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan.

The MPM comprised a chairman who is the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) President or a person appointed by the Sultan, 2 members appointed by the Sultan and 3 members from the State Executive Council who are responsible for Islamic religious affairs, Perak Mufti and Perak Islamic Religious Department Director.

It is also composed of not more than 50 members representing state mosques (not less than 10 young individuals and 10 Muslim women) and MAIPk Chief Executive Officer as secretary.

The Sultan said, hopefully, through this MPM there will be a change in mindset and culture, creating new ideas and methods to enliven the mosques.

"Developing, prospering and invigorating mosques is sunnah. MPM members must think big, enable the mosque to play a more dynamic and meaningful role, be removed from narrow confines, free from old thinking deliberately formulated by past colonialists with the implicit aim of curbing the mosque’s role to only matters of worship that are defined with narrow dimensions," said the Perak Ruler.

Meanwhile, Sultan Nazrin also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MAIPk, represented by Chief Executive Officer Shahrul Azam Shaari and UDA Holdings Berhad, represented by Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sr. Salem Khailany.

His Royal Highness’s arrival was accompanied by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin and MAIPk President Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd. Annuar Zaini.
