Perak State Assembly Speaker Dato Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid entering the Assembly Hall to start the sitting at 9 am.

IPOH, 25 September 2023 - Perak was among the top five states attracting the majority of approved investments with an increase of 550 percent equivalent to RM1.3 billion compared to the quarter of 2022.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said this when answering an oral question at the Fourth Meeting, First Year of the 15th Perak State Assembly at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.

He added that the achievement was based on investments from January to March 2023.

"Based on data from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and InvestPerak, a total of 101 projects have been approved with a total investment amounting to RM7.1 billion with RM2.69 billion or 37.89% through Domestic Direct Investment (DDI).

"RM4.39 billion or 61.83@ was from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), creating an estimated 7,682 job opportunities in the state," he elaborated.

He said as an initial step, Perak has received several investments, including developing the Automotive High-Technology Valley (AHTV) worth RM40 billion in Tanjung Malim over the next 10 years.

"PROTON and its entire operations including Geely will relocate to Tanjung Malim with the transfer of 10,000 workers by 2027.

"In addition, Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) in Lumut Investment, has the potential to generate investment opportunities amounting to RM72 billion with 51,000 job opportunities in the next 25 years.

"Perak also managed to attract an initial investment worth RM100 million for the production and processing of minerals in the Silver Valley Technology Park area, and the construction of an XP Power factory worth almost RM300 million in the Perak Tengah district. The project, expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024, will create more than 1,200 job opportunities," he said.
