SUNGAI SIPUT, 1 October 2023 - More than 100,000 people visited the Perak Agrofest 2023 which was held for 3 days from 29 September to 1 October 2023.
Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said this when officiating the Perak Agrofest 2023 Closing Ceremony at Ladang Infoternak this afternoon.
"Perak Agrofest had targeted a total attendance of 60,000 people throughout the three-day event. However, until now, the total attendance is estimated to exceed 100,000 people.
"The overall sales target for this event is RM1.5 million and a total of 150 entrepreneurs from various sectors such as the food sector, agricultural inputs and agro entrepreneurs are involved in this event," he explained.
He added that the last time the Perak State Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen Day was held here was in 2013. After 10 years, the event, now known as Perak Agrofest, was organised here again to boost the agro-farming sector in Perak.
"To my knowledge, this is indeed the site for Agrofest, but, when I was the Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture, Housing and Local Government Committee Chairman, we organised this programme at the Rural Transformation Center (RTC) in Gopeng to facilitate the express buses on the highway to stop there.
"However, we saw that people preferred the programme to be held in the original place and we already have the infrastructure, so we are organising it here again," he told reporters.
Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, Deputy State Secretary (Development) Halizah Sipun, State Tourism, Investment Industry and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee, State Agricultural Development Corporation (SADC) Chief Executive Officer Yahanis Yahya and National Farmers Organisation (NAFAS) Board of Directors Member Dato' Sham Mat Sahari.
