IPOH, 9 October 2025 - The Perak State Government and the Selangor State Government continue to strengthen strategic cooperation in empowering the development of Chinese New Villages through benchmarking visits to several key locations for the development of Chinese New Villages in Perak.

The Selangor State Government delegation was led by Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Local Government Development, Tourism and New Village Development.

Among the locations visited were Kampung Baru Papan in Batu Gajah, Setiawan Settlement Museum, Lang Hua Mee Trading, Ayer Tawar Heritage Museum and Taman Rakyat@Disneyland, Ayer Tawar.

The delegation had the opportunity to closely observe the implementation of the New Village integrated development model driven by the Perak State Government, covering aspects of heritage conservation, economic growth and the well-being of the local community.

According to State Domestic Trade, Cooperatives, Consumer Affairs and Chinese New Village Committee Chairman Woo Kah Leong, this programme not only strengthens bilateral relations between Perak and Selangor, but also serves as a platform for the exchange of views and knowledge in formulating a more inclusive and comprehensive development policy for Chinese New Villages.

"This collaboration not only strengthens ties between the two states, but also expands smart partnership opportunities in empowering Chinese New Villages as a high-potential area for the state's economic and social development," he said.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Ng Suee Lim described the approach implemented by the Perak State Government as the best model in balancing progress with the preservation of the community's heritage and culture.

The visit concluded with an official dinner at AC Hotel by Marriott to honour the Selangor State Government delegation and further strengthen bilateral relations between the states.

The event was enlivened with cultural performances by the Perak Culture and Arts Department, as well as a souvenir exchange session between the two states as a symbol of appreciation for the close cooperation.

Also present were Perak State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) Deputy Director (Sectoral 1) Kumaresan A/L Lingam, SUK Perak Local Government Division Principal Assistant Director Shanmuga Sundary A/P Muniandy and UPEN SUK Selangor (Local Authority Section) Assistant Director Nur Nadira Sulaiman.

This programme as a whole reflects the continuous commitment of the two states in strengthening the synergy for a more integrated, organised and sustainable development of Chinese New Villages. This effort is also in line with the aspirations of Perak Sejahtera 2030 and the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises a balance between progress and the well-being of the people.
