Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad said the campaign was a continuation of the success of the ‘26 Million Tree-Planting Campaign’ where a total of 10,206,420 trees were successfully planted throughout Perak from 2010 to 2014.
"The campaign is aimed at maintaining green areas throughout the country as well as preserving and conserving forest areas and raising awareness of the importance of trees and forest areas," he said during the Perak State Level Greening Malaysia Programme press conference at the Kledang Saiong Forest Eco Park today.
Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Health, Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin, State Rural Development, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Committee chairman Dato' Zainol Fadzi Paharudin and State Forestry Director Dato' Mohamed Zin Yusop.

All parties including government agencies, private companies, corporate bodies, non-governmental organisations, research/education institutions and the public were also encouraged to participate in the planting effort.
“This greening agenda has been revitalized to attract the interest of various agencies to collaborate to help the government improve the forest quality as well as give awareness to the public.
"We strive to ensure the country's commitment to maintain at least 50 percent of the country's land area covered by forest and trees can be achieved." he said.
He added that the campaign was held for a period of five years with the aim of spreading awareness on the importance of conserving forest areas in the effort to address the issue of climate change.
