IPOH, 17 March 2021- The design of six flower petals was chosen as the official identity logo of the Perak Women and Community Development (Wanita Perak) Secretariat which symbolises the six focuses of its portfolio.

State Women and Family Development, Social Welfare and NGOs Committee Chairman Dato' Dr. Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin said the logo created by Saiful Akmal Mohd Saadi was chosen as a result of the Wanita Perak Secretariat Logo Design Competition which was held for 10 days from 1 March.

"Basically, the shape of this logo is a flower with petals that symbolises the nature of women who are famous for their beauty and gentleness, and the six petals designed alternating from the letters ‘W’ and ‘M’ signify ‘women and community’.

"The petals represent the six core focuses of the Wanita Perak’s portfolio, namely Women in Leadership, Women in Defence, Women in Entrepreneurship, Women in Humanity, Women in Healthcare and Sustainable Community," she said.

She said this at the Wanita Perak Logo Launch Ceremony which was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad at the Perak State Secretariat Banquet Hall.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim and Perak State Executive Council members.

Dato' Dr. Wan Norashikin clarified that the colour of each petal alternated, signifying equality irrespective of the diversity of the society and the three colours used are significant to the State of Perak.

"Yellow symbolises Perak upholds sovereignty, Silver means 'Perak' and Dusty Pink is synonymous with women," she said.

The establishment of the Wanita Perak Secretariat on 1 January aimed to plan guidelines, policies and strategies related to women, community and social development in Perak.
