IPOH, 30 June 2021- HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has given his consent for the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) to convene on 25 August.

The announcement was made by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Saarani Mohamad at a virtual media conference today.

“The First Meeting of the Fourth Year of the 14th Perak State Assembly will sit for four days. His Royal Highness has agreed to officiate the opening ceremony on the first day of the sitting,” he said.

He said that based on initial plans, the sitting would be held physically for all elected representatives, while department heads and observers could follow the sitting virtually. The sitting sessions could be viewed live on social media via Facebook and YouTube.

“As the sitting is scheduled to take place during the Movement Control of the National Recovery Plan, a meeting will be held with security forces including the National Security Council to seek advice on compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

"This includes decision on the number of attendance in the hall, physical distancing and seating positions of assemblymen as well as other related SOPs,” he added.

He also hoped that this DUN session would be utilised by the state assemblymen to share their views and thoughts, especially in relation to the collective effort to break the COVID-19 infection chain.

Meanwhile, he has also announced additional initiatives under the Cikgu Saarani Tuition programme to assist Kemahiran Asas Fardhu Ain (KAFA) teachers in Perak to conduct Home-based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

“Through this new initiative, the Menteri Besar's Office and the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) will collaborate to produce KAFA class videos to be used as PdPR materials or uploaded on social media.

"For a start, 15 JAIPk officers and KAFA teachers will be involved in creating interactive videos on learning materials for KAFA Year One to Year Six students,” he told reporters.

The initiative was implemented in response to the suggestion that assistance and support be given to KAFA teachers who face difficulties in producing PdPR content and materials.
