The Youth and Sports Minister presenting an appreciation to MyVAC volunteers at Stadium Indera Mulia PPV.

IPOH, 12 SEPTEMBER 2021 - Registration to be a MyVAC (Malaysia Vaccine Support Volunteers) volunteer was very encouraging even though this task is categorised as risky.

Youth and Sports Minister Dato' Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said this at a Meeting Session with MyVAC Volunteers and frontliners at the Indera Mulia Stadium Vaccine Centre (PPV) here today.

“Until 2 September 2021, the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) via the National Youth and Sports Department has assigned 8,187 MyVAC volunteers to 417 PPVs nationwide.

“This number is constantly increasing from time to time in line with the opening of new Vaccination Centres which need the services of MyVAC volunteers as one of the support personnel in helping the country achieve herd immunity.

“In Perak, I was informed that the State Youth and Sports Department has assigned a total of 979 volunteers to 25 Vaccination Centres throughout the state. Stadium Indera Mulia PPV has the largest number of MyVAC volunteers in Perak, that is 45 people daily with an average of 3,000 doses a day,” he said.

He added that the ministry has also introduced MyVAC@Sportsindustry to help industrial workers affected by the pandemic. 1,000 MyVAC slots are reserved for sports industry employees registered with KBS and MITI via the Integrated Information Management System with RM6 million allocated for implementing this initiative.

During the visit, he also presented sanitisation kits to the Indera Mulia Stadium PPV head and representatives of the frontliners.

Also present were National Youth and Sports Department Director-General Dato' Dr. Hajah Wasitah Mohd Yusof, State Youth, Sports, Communication and Multimedia Committee Chairman Khairul Shahril Mohamed, Deputy State Secretary Nor Sham Rahman and State Youth and Sports Department Director Mohd Soufi Mohd Ibrahim.
