TANJUNG MALIM, 8 December 2021: The Government will set up the Keluarga Malaysia Research and Education Centre to lead research and promote the concept of Keluarga Malaysia in Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) here.
Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the centre will be a leader in research and promote the concept of ‘Keluarga Malaysia’.
He said the setting up of the centre in UPSI was apt as the university was also known as the leading institution that brings changes in the development of education.
"It is my hope that the centre will be able to institutionalise the 'Malaysian Family' into a hub for research, education, training and knowledge among Malaysians.
"I am very optimistic that with the creativity, innovation and strategic collaboration involving various parties, the centre can play a significant role in improving, promoting and disseminating the concept and efforts to cultivate enrichment values," he added.
He said this in his speech at the Keluarga Malaysia@IPT launch at Dewan Tuanku Canselor Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris.
Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Deputy Education Minister Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon.
The Prime Minister also called upon IPT residents, especially the youths to appreciate the core values of Keluarga Malaysia, i.e., inclusivity, togetherness and contentment.
“Whether consciously or not, students spend most of their time on campus with college mates and also lecturers exemplifying togetherness as the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia.
"Hence, the aura of Keluarga Malaysia can be illustrated via harmonious cooperation, mutual respect and openness of students towards differences," he added.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Family Student Welfare Foundation, launched on 28 October 2021, is in accordance with the value of togetherness, one of the pillars of Keluarga Malaysia.
In addition, the setting up of the foundation is in line with the government's principle to always ensure that no one is left behind or marginalised.
