IPOH, 10 December 2021: The Perak State Government has allocated a total of RM1.1 billion for the Perak Budget 2022.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said the budget was formulated based on the projected development revenue and receipts of RM1.06 billion.

"From the revenue and expenditure projections, the Perak Budget 2022 is proposed as a deficit budget of RM50 million."

“The operating expenditure comprises emolument expenses of RM390.2 million, services and supplies RM296.3 million, asset purchases RM7.2 million, grants and fixed payments RM102.7 million, and miscellaneous expenses RM6.6 million.

He said this when tabling the Perak Budget 2022 themed "Perak: A Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive State" at the Perak State Assembly here.

He said to strengthen the strategy to boost the state's economy, additional development funds via a Trust Fund of RM47 million have been provided.

He said the funds will be used to fund the Perak Sejahtera Economic Stimulus Package.

"The total allocation and funds for state development next year is RM349 million," he added.

He said the Perak Budget 2022 will also be supported by financial commitments from government-linked companies (GLCs) to be directly involved in the people's wellbeing programmes, including in education, agriculture and entrepreneurship.

"In a situation where the people are facing difficult times to recover from the health crisis that gripped their lives for almost two years, the role of the GLCs is very much needed so that the profits generated can be shared for the development of the state and wellbeing of the people.

"Thus, for 2022, the state government has set five main focuses to ensure the state's financial position remains strong in the coming months of uncertainty without neglecting the responsibility to safeguard the people’s welfare and wellbeing.

“The five focuses are Regenerating the Economy and Enabling the People's Self-Sufficiency; Prospering the People; Strengthening Human Capital and Social Development; Strengthening Governance and Digitisation; and Conserving Environmental Treasures,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state government has announced a special financial assistance of RM1,000 to all Perak civil servants.  It is a token of appreciation to them for steadfastly weathering COVID-19 together.
