IPOH, 22 December 2021- The Perak State Government received a contribution of 20 push carts from Shopee under the Community Services Programme to help and provide opportunities to micro-traders from the B40 group, who lost their livelihoods due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Kinta area.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said the effort is a collaboration between ShopeePay and Perak Entrepreneur Secretariat (STeP) that identified the entrepreneurs involved, and Perak Development Corporation (PKNP) which provided business sites at the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout.

“This programme was launched at the end of October this year and is an extension of the Perak Entrepreneur Digitisation Programme, which is the focus of the state government via STeP this year.

“According to the STeP Director, the traders involved have started sales by using these stalls on 1 December. The overall sales record showed that within two weeks it recorded RM108,000 with an average income of RM390 per trader per day,” he said.

He said this at a press conference after officiating the Handover Ceremony of 20 Shopee Stalls at Bulatan Amanjaya, Meru here.
