IPOH, 25 March 2022 – HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has given his consent for the First Meeting of the Fifth Year of the 14th Perak State Assembly to convene on 28 March.

HRH Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim also consented to accompany His Royal Highness to the Official Opening Ceremony.

Perak State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid told reporters during a press conference at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here today.

“HRH the Sultan of Perak has consented to grace the opening ceremony of the sitting at 10 am on 28 March without any guard of honour inspection.

"Then, on 29 March, the Debate on the Motion of Thanks on the Royal Address by HRH the Sultan of Perak will be tabled by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad.

“The oral question sessions will be held on the second and third day, with an hour for each session. A total of 20 ADUNs will debate on the Motion, i.e. nine from the Government and government supporters, 10 opposition members, including the Opposition Leader and one independent,” he said.

He added that the sitting had to be shortened to three days, from 28 – 30 March, although there are various agendas that needed to be tabled and discussed.

 “The decision was made as the country is still in the pandemic phase apart from getting the advice and views from the State Security Council (MKN) and Ministry of Health Malaysia (MoH).

He said the public can follow the sitting live via the Perak DUN You Tube channel and the official Facebook page, Perak State Secretariat.

Also present was State Assembly Secretary Muhammad Nazri Abdullah.
