Gunung Masoorat Offers Various Extreme Tourism Activities

Gunung Masoorat as one of the destinations offering various extreme activities.
IPOH, 26 March 2022 – HH Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Almarhum Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah graced the Perak SADC Agrofest Masoorat Heritage Park@Ipoh Programme Opening Ceremony.
Also gracing the event was HH Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya Abdul Halim Shah.
The programme launch was officiated by Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, representing State Housing, Local Government and Tourism Committee Chairman Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi.
Perak Agriculture Development Corporation CEO Yahanis Yahya said the programme aimed to promote Gunung Masoorat as one of the destinations for various extreme activities, such as cave exploration, rock climbing, abseiling and rocktrail trekking specially for the visitors.
“This mountain has a height of 162 meters and an area of 18 acres. It is also recognised among the 22 geosite locations in the Kinta Valley Geopark, making it one of the leading eco-tourism products.
"Besides, here there are very rare species of flora and fauna, such as horse-tail creeper, whitespot giant arum and trapdoor spiders as well as fossils and prehistoric paintings that are thousands of years old," he said in his speech at the event.
He added that this location has the potential to be a conservation or special research centre for the purpose of conservation and preservation of limestone caves in the area.
"This proposal is not only in line with the Ipoh City Local Plan 2035 agenda but can also protect its treasures," he said.
The four-day programme from 24–27 March 2022 was also eligible to be recorded in the Malaysia Book of Record as the first concert performed on a limestone hill.
The highlight of last night's event was the Limestone Music Preview stage performance featuring Papa Rock, Ramli Sarip accompanied by the country's famous guitarist Man Kidal.
Also present were State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin who is also a Member of the Perak SADC Board of Directors, Perak Minerals and Geosciences Department Director Dato’ Ir Ahmad Zukni Ahmad Khalil, Perak Agriculture Department Director Norsiyenti Othman, Perak Tourism CEO Nurmalis Musa and Perak State Parks Corporation GM Shah Redza Hussein.
