The Perak Menteri Besar presenting aid of RM1,000 to storm victims.

IPOH, 27 April 2022 - The Perak State Government has handed out contribution totalling RM1.58 million to all storm victims through the National Disaster Relief Trust Fund (KWABBN) approved by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad presented the aid to victims of the Northeast monsoon disaster at the Kinta District KWABBN Aid Handover Ceremony at Dewan Tawas, Kg. Tawas.

"A total of 535 household heads received aid of RM1,000 involving storm victims in Mukim Hulu Kinta, Mukim Sungai Terap, Chemor, Batu Gajah, Tanjung Rambutan and Ipoh," he told reporters at the event.

This was an additional aid to the relief given previously, he said.

Among them, RM300 aid to 352 household heads totalling RM105,600 and emergency disaster aid to repair 129 premises damaged by storms in Mukim Chemor, i.e. Tawas, Chepor and Sri Klebang amounting to RM450,000.

Also, home repair aid via the Ministry of Housing and Local Government allocation of RM405,000 and RM48,600 from the Malaysian Islamic Development Department.

Besides financial aid, the victims also received food boxes from NADMA and the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM).

The aid given has gone through a thorough review process, he added.

“The district disaster management committee chaired by the district officer needs to conduct a survey and calculate the cost of damage and submit an application to NADMA for allocation approval.

"However, as soon as the state government received news of the disaster, we immediately provided whatever aid was needed and the aid from NADMA was additional aid from the federal government," he said.

Also present were Deputy State Secretary (Development) Halizah Sipun, Kinta District Officer Meor Hezbullah Meor Abdul Malik and Penghulu Mukim Kinta Ipoh Dr. Mohd Sani Kamaruddin.
