IPOH, 28 September 2022 – State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim is optimistic with the preparation of rescue agencies to face disasters.

As the Perak Disaster Management Committee Chairman, he has conducted a visit to monitor the preparedness of frontliners in dealing with the northeast monsoon disaster.

The monitoring visit focused on the agency operational control centres to get an overview of operations during disasters and the level of preparedness of agencies involved when facing them.

Dato' Ahmad Suaidi began the tour session by visiting the Perak Civil Defense Force (APM) operations room at Kompleks Pejabat KDN in Bandar Meru Raya here.

He was accompanied by APM Perak Deputy Director Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Mohammad Azwani Kusnin who gave a briefing on the operations room.

The tour session continued with a visit to the Perak Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JPBM) Operations Centre.

Also present was JPBM Perak Director YS PKPjB Azmi Osman who gave a briefing on the functions of the operations room and the steps to be taken when faced with a disaster.

The tour ended with a visit to the Perak Police Contingent Headquarters at Jalan Sultan Iskandar here.

On arrival there, Ahmad Suaidi was welcomed by Perak Police Deputy Chief DCP Dato' Pahlawan Azizi Mat Aris and was immediately taken to see the operations room of the Internal Security and Public Order Department, Perak Police Contingent Headquarters.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology Malaysia (MetMalaysia) forecasted that the country will experience continuous heavy rains from mid-November, leading to major floods at the end of the month.

Among the states that will be affected are Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak and Selangor.
