IPOH, 7 December 2022 – To be a Member of the  Perak State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) is a great honour as the Perak State Assembly is always highly regarded not only among other state assemblies in Malaysia but also to the legislature and international legal field.

Perak State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Dato' Abdul Khalid said this at a Friendly Session of Perak State Assemblymen with the State Assembly Speaker at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan this afternoon.

He added that the Perak State Assembly has often recorded some history throughout the sittings held.

"This House has been recorded in history several times, for example, when there was a change of Perak Menteri Besar and Perak was the first state to introduce the bubble concept for the First Meeting, Fourth Year of the Fourteenth Perak State Assembly last August as a measure to minimise risk of infection of COVID-19," he explained.

He, who has been the Perak State Assembly Speaker since 2020, called on all the ADUNs to uphold the responsibility and trust of safeguarding this assembly because it is also a reference for countries that practise constitutional law.

Meanwhile, State Protocol and Ceremony Unit Head Azahari Effendy Abd Rahim gave a short briefing on protocols and ceremonies of Perak to all the ADUNs present.

At the end of the session, the guests were invited to visit the Perak State Assembly Hall before the start of the First and Second Meeting of the First Year of the 15th Perak State Assembly on 19 December 2022 for the tabling of the 2023 Budget.

Also present were Deputy State Secretary (Development) Halizah Sipun and State Assembly and State Exco Division Assistant State Secretary Amir Fadli Mohamed Hilmi, representing State Assembly Secretary Muhammad Nazri Abdullah.
