IPOH, 8 December 2022 - The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) received a total of 653 complaints from Malaysians related to its 21 regulatory enforcement agencies, such as the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Road Transport Department (JPJ), Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) and Ministry of Health (Enforcement Division) on the abuse of power and enforcement misconduct.
EAIC Chief Executive Officer Norhayati Ahmad said this during the E.R.A.T Meeting with the North Zone Community at the Perak State Secretariat Banquet Hall this morning.
“Enforcement Agencies often receive complaints regarding dissatisfaction with the procedures and services provided, which are often associated with inefficiency and misconduct. Through these complaints, weaknesses in the procedures and services can be identified and improved.
"It is not to find fault or expose the officers, on the contrary, it should be seen as a medium of strengthening integrity and improving the quality of accountability in enforcement institutions in the country," she elaborated.
State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim said it was a noble effort by the government towards restoring the people's trust and confidence in the credibility of public service institutions.
"On behalf of the state government, I fully support the goals of this campaign, E.R.A.T, i.e. Encouraging, Responsibility, Accountability and Trustworthy to foster the role of the community as eyes and ears to curb issues of misconduct and abuse of power," he added.
