HH Raja Muda Perak gracing the Opening Ceremony of the Kinta Valley Geopark 5th Anniversary and Launch of the International Geopark Run 2024@Ipoh Low Carbon Day at Persiaran Dewan Bandaraya, Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil.

IPOH, 22 October 2023 – HH Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa graced the Opening Ceremony of the Kinta Valley Geopark 5th Anniversary and Launch of the International Geopark Run 2024@Ipoh Low Carbon Day at Persiaran Dewan Bandaraya, Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil here today.

Accompanying His Highness was HH Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin and State Tourism, Investment Industry and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee.

According to Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, the Perak State Government is targeting Perak as a state with zero landfill sites by 2030.

"Hence, in accordance with Ipoh's position in the Kinta Valley Geopark, the State Government through the Ipoh City Council’s initiative, intends to use a new garbage and solid waste disposal system via the Thermowaste method.

"The technology is a method of separating household solid waste more efficiently, quickly and easily. In fact, the separated solid waste can provide income returns through the production of commodities, such as biomass, plastics and metals to be sold to the industry," he said during the press conference.

Earlier, Ipoh Mayor Dato' Rumaizi Bahrin accompanied by Perak State Parks Corporation Acting Director Lau Ching Fong officiated the flag-off for the 5km Geopark 5Run event at about 7.45am.

The Kinta Valley Geopark, recognised as a National Geopark since 2017, has listed 22 geosites, 8 biodiversity sites, 11 heritage and historical sites and 7 geoproducts.
