HRH Sultan of Perak delivering his Royal Address.

KUALA KANGSAR, 5 November 2023 – HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah expressed his sorrow over the suffering of the Palestinian people who were victims of the brutality of the Israeli regime.

Sultan Nazrin said the world is currently sick and may be fatal if the crisis of competition and conflict continues, leaving violence and humanitarian disasters unchecked.

"It is heartbreaking to see the suffering endured by Palestinians as a result of the cruel acts of the Israeli Zionist Regime that defy comprehension, let alone by human beings.

"The suffering of innocent people in Palestine evokes memories of words uttered by the Athenian army to the people of Melos Island during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta in 416 BC, who chose neutrality and not to surrender were besieged, all the male inhabitants were killed, and all the women and children enslaved," said Sultan Nazrin.

The Perak Ruler said this at the Pledge of Loyalty and Investiture Ceremony in conjunction with His Royal Highness' Birthday Celebration 1445H/2023M at Istana Iskandariah here today.

Accompanying His Royal Highness was HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim.

Also gracing the occasion were HH Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, HH Raja Puan Besar Perak Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Shah, HH Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah and HH Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya Sultan Abdul Halim.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Gen. (Rtd) Dato' Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin, State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid, Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, Armed Forces Commander General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohammad Ab Rahman, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Dato' Seri Razarudin Husain, Public Services Director-General Dato' Dr. Zulkapli Mohamed, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Exco Members, Members of Parliament, State Assemblymen and heads of state and federal departments.

Sultan Nazrin Shah added that a self-centred and self-righteous attitude will lead to destruction.

"Hatred and enmity seem to be the choice of those in power, who seem more inclined to compete than to cooperate.

"As a result, efforts to develop people, eradicate poverty, overcome food shortages, and eliminate ignorance and illiteracy, become increasingly difficult.

"The world is currently facing issues with the supply of services and goods, especially foodstuffs which are increasingly difficult to obtain, resulting in rising living cost and causing worldwide hardship," said the Sultan.

Sultan Nazrin said a world afflicted by crises must to be healed with the voice of peace.

"Collaboration is better than conflict, discourse is better than disputes, and forgiveness is better than grudges.

"Repent! Peace is better than war; Repent! The roots of humanity only grow in an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation; Repent! Peace will remain a dream if there is no goodwill in people's hearts," the Ruler stressed.

Earlier, HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah inspected a main guard of honour in conjunction with His Highness’ Birthday Ceremony 1445H/2023M at Istana Iskandariah here. The main guard of honour comprised 103 members and three officers from the Royal Army Engineers Regiment 2nd Division based at Camp Sangro in Taiping under the command of Colonel Abdul Rahim Hamzah, while the guard of honour head was Major Muhibburrahman Khairul Anuar.
