Her Royal Highness said the efforts must encompass early screening and detection of preventable diseases, particularly for women in remote areas in the country.

IPOH, 7 March 2024 – HRH Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim graced the Women in Medicine Symposium 2024 in conjunction with the International Women's Day Celebration themed 'Inspire Inclusion' at the Weil Hotel this morning.

At the event, Her Royal Highness spoke on the two important aspects of women in the medical field and that the theme should embrace both of these aspects.

"The first is women who contribute manpower, dedicating their skills, time and passion in the healthcare system to healing and caring for others.

“The second is women who rely on the healthcare system for the well-being of themselves and their loved ones.

"The first aspect often comes to mind when discussing women's health, while the second aspect, which is less emphasised, is equally important.

"Their voices and experiences are equally important in shaping the inclusiveness and effectiveness of our healthcare system," she said.

Her Royal Highness said, efforts need to be intensified to reach out to the less fortunate by ensuring access to healthcare, providing information and education, besides being empowered about their health and that of their loved ones.

She added that the efforts must encompass early screening and detection of preventable diseases, particularly for women in remote areas in the country.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar’s wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja’s wife Toh Puan Datin Seri DiRaja Puan Sri Rasiah Md Nor, State Assembly Speaker’s wife Datin Aznee Abu Samah and Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Perak chairman Dr. Suresh Subramaniam.
