His Royal Highness unveiled the plaque curtain symbolising the opening of the mosque.

SERI ISKANDAR, 19 March 2024 - HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah graced the Breaking of the Fast Ceremony and Opening of Masjid Bandar Universiti here.

The Sultan’s arrival at 7.00pm was welcomed by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Gen. Dato' Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin (Rtd), State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Dato' Abdul Khalid, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Exco Members, Perak Mufti Dato' Seri Wan Zahidi Wan Teh, Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) President Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini and Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) Director Harith Fadzillah Abdul Halim.

At the ceremony, His Royal Highness consented to plant a Bunga Tanjung or Mimusops elengi tree and then unveiled the plaque curtain symbolising the opening of the mosque.

Sultan Nazrin then broke fast with the more than 500 congregants and performed the Maghrib prayer before proceeding to the reception, followed by the Isyak and Terawih prayers.

The mosque was built in 2018 at a cost of RM5.7 million and can accommodate 1,200 worshippers.

It has also won several awards in conjunction with the Perak State Level National Environment Day (HASN) 2022, including the Best Environmentally Friendly Infrastructure and Technology Special Award, Best Documentation Award and Sustainable Mosque champion in the Masjid Kariah category.

Also, in conjunction with the State Level Maal Hijrah 1444H Celebration, it received the Perak Best Mosque Management Award 2022.
