IPOH, 29 May 2025 – An estimated 100 civil service officers from Grade 2 to Grade 8 from various departments under the Perak State Secretariat administration, including District and Land Offices as well as Local Authorities, participated in the Self-Leadership Programme: Driving Implementing Group’s Excellence, held at Hotel Casuarina@Meru.

The workshop, from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, was organised by the Perak State Secretariat in collaboration with the Razak School of Government (RSOG).

The workshop was officiated by Suriati Shahar, Principal Assistant State Secretary (Organisation Development), Human Resource Management Division, Perak State Secretariat.

Among the invited speakers who contributed to the programme’s success were Acting Chief Executive Officer and RSOG Certified Coach Azham Zainal Abidin, and Tan Sri Dato' Seri Utama Zainal Rahim Seman, National Wages Consultative Council Chairman and former Director-General of Public Service (KPPA) Malaysia.

The programme aimed to raise awareness that leadership is not solely the responsibility of leaders or senior officers, but must be nurtured at all levels within the organisation.

The programme’s main objectives included enhancing self-leadership capabilities among civil servants; assisting participants identify their strengths, weaknesses and personal leadership styles; improving the ability to make rational decisions; and strengthening the capacity to manage change within the organisation.

According to Suriati Shahar in her speech, this programme also emphasised the development of self-identity and integrity among the Implementing Group, which is the backbone of the successful implementation of organisational policies and decisions.
