SELANGOR, 12 October 2025- The Perak State Secretariat (SUK Perak) received the 2025 Citra Sahabat Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Award at the MPAJ Convention Centre in Taman Melawati here.

The presentation of certificates was officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari at the 2025 National Language Month Launch Ceremony.

The award was received by Principal Assistant State Secretary Anita Amri, representing the Perak State Secretariat.

The award is a recognition given to individuals, associations, companies, organisations or agencies that have played an important and effective role in assisting DBP to disseminate and uphold the Malay language, literature and writings.

Also present were Education Ministry Secretary-General Dato' Dr. Aminuddin Hassim, Selangor State Secretary Dato' Dr. Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, DBP Board of Governors Chairman Dato' Dr. Mohd Anuar Rethwan, DBP Director-General Dr. Hazami Jahari and Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.

In his speech, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari emphasised that mastery and use of the Malay language must continue to be given priority in all official matters and community life because language is the basis for shaping national identity and fostering unity.

"Bahasa Melayu is a symbol of national pride, reflecting the culture, customs and values of the nation. Therefore, the responsibility to preserve and uphold it must be shared by all the people," he said.

He added that efforts to strengthen the national language must be translated into enforcement, including ensuring compliance with the use of Malay on signage, official documents and communication materials in both government and private sectors, in line with the provisions under the National Language Act 1963/67.
