Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim mingling with market traders

SELAMA, 23 January 2026 – State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim conducted a working visit to the Sungai Bayor Morning Market (PPSB) here before chairing the State Secretary’s Meeting with District Officers (SSDO) No. 1/2026 at the Selama District and Land Office (PDT).

The visit to PPSB at 8.30 am aimed to directly inspect the morning market operations and listen to a briefing on proposed infrastructure improvements, particularly on safety, visitor and trader comfort, traffic management, pedestrian facilities and the provision of public toilets.

During the visit, Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi was also taken to view the PPSB landmark construction site and the planned public toilet project as an effort to improve the image and facilities of the morning market.

Sungai Bayor Morning Market has been recognised as the longest morning market in Malaysia by the Malaysia Book of Records, stretching 2.32 kilometres. The market operates every Friday from 7.30 am to 12.30 pm and features between 300 and 600 traders from Perak, Kedah and Penang, thus making it one of the significant local economic attractions in the Selama district.

After the visit, Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi proceeded to PTD Selama to chair SSDO Meeting No. 1/2026, which began at 10.00 am.

Also present were Deputy State Secretary (Management) Dato’ Nor Sham Rahman, Deputy State Secretary (Development) Halizah Sipun, Perak Land and Mines Director Dato’ Mohamad Fariz Mohamad Hanip, State Secretariat Management Services Division (BKP) Secretary Nuruljaswa Abd Hamid, as well as District Officers from across Perak.

The meeting began with presentations and reports on district development expenditure, followed by discussions on state revenue achievements, and reviewing the goals and direction of the Perak State Government in line with the implementation of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan.
