IPOH, 28 January 2026 — The Perak State Government will assist efforts to bring the RadiantCal product, a mineral-based innovation by the Department of Minerals and Geoscience (JMG) Malaysia Perak, to the market.

Deputy State Secretary (Management) Dato’ Nor Sham Rahman said this when chairing a visit by the Mineral Research Centre (PPM), JMG Malaysia Perak, to the Perak State Secretariat at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here.

She said RadiantCal has strong potential as a product based on local mineral resources and aligns with the state’s efforts to strengthen downstream industry development based on innovation.

The visit aimed to introduce RadiantCal, a cosmetic product resulting from JMG’s research and development (R&D), which uses high-purity calcium or Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) from local limestone sources.

The delegation, led by JMG Malaysia Perak Mineral Research Centre Director Dr. Rohaya Othman, was welcomed by Corporate Division Principal Assistant State Secretary Anita Amri. Also present was Management Services Division Secretary Nuruljaswa Abd Hamid.

RadiantCal has undergone laboratory testing, meets the requirements of the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) and is now ready to enter the pre-commercial phase.

The product has received various recognitions at the state, national and international levels, in addition to a patent filing in August 2024.

RadiantCal was officially launched during the Mineral Symposium (SIMPOMIN) 2025 on 1 October 2025 at Hotel Casuarina@Meru here, before being promoted at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

As a highlight of its achievements, RadiantCal received the Special Award of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) 2025 and the MINDS Luminary Award at the Malaysia Inventor and Innovator Convention (MYIIC) 2025.

Previously, another JMG innovation, namely the manufacture of commercial paint, had won the Menteri Besar Innovation Award 2023, strengthening JMG’s capability in developing mineral-based innovations of national and international standards.
