IPOH, 17 January 2022 - The state government continues to be caring towards educators since the COVID-19 pandemic until now in preparation for the endemic phase.

State Education, Higher Education and Human Resources Committee Chairman Ahmad Saidi Mohamad Daud said teachers nowadays faced an increase in workload due to changes in the learning system because of the pandemic situation in the country.

He said this to reporters at a Listening & Dialogue Session With Educators at the Sri Bintang Lecture Hall, Industrial Training Institute (ILP) in Ipoh today.

Realising the problem, the state government in collaboration with the State Education Department (JPN), District Education Offices (PPDs) and Institut Darul Ridzuan (IDR) provided webinar programmes, engagements and counselling motivation to inspire teachers.

"We conducted this programme during the Movement Control Order and we saw that it needed to be continued virtually and physically to face the endemic phase," he said.

He also admitted that teachers requested to retire early due to the pressure they faced.

“There are teachers who have 5 to 6 years left before retirement but take the easy way out by retiring earlier. The state government feels it’s a loss because these experienced teachers are specialist teachers,” he said.

Also present were State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Financial Officer Dato’ Zulazlan Abu Hassan, Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, Kinta District Officer Meor Hezbullah Meor Abdul Malik and Manjoi State Assemblyman Dato' Asmunin Awi.
