Dato' Mohamad Zahid Abdul Khalid taking his oath as the Perak State Assembly Speaker.

IPOH, 19 December 2022 - Dato' Mohamad Zahid Abdul Khalid was sworn in as the Perak State Assembly Speaker for the second time at the First Meeting of the First Year of the 15th Perak State Legislative Assembly.

The motion to appoint Dato' Mohamad Zahir was submitted by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad (ADUN Kota Tampan) and supported by State Human Resources, Health and Indian Community Affairs Committee Chairman A Sivanesan (ADUN Sungkai).

Meanwhile, Canning Assemblyman Jenny Choy Tsi Jen was appointed as the Perak State Assembly Deputy Speaker.

The motion was proposed by State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee Chairman Dato' Seri Ir Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (ADUN Sungai Rapat) and supported by State Women, Family, Social Welfare and Entrepreneur Development Committee Chairman Salbiah Mohamed (ADUN Temengor).

At the First Meeting of the First Year of the 15th Perak State Legislative Assembly, a total of 58 State Assemblymen took the oath of office, including State Assembly Opposition Leader Razman Zakaria (ADUN Gunung Semanggol).

Meanwhile, Kepayang Assemblyman Nga Kor Ming was unable to attend the oath-taking ceremony as he was involved in the Dewan Rakyat Sitting.
