Their Royal Highnesses giving out angpau to orphans.

IPOH, 29 January 2023 – HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim graced the state level Chinese New Year Celebration at the Lost World of Tambun Theme Park (LWOT) this afternoon.

HH Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, HH Raja Puan Besar Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Shah, HH Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah and HH Tunku Soraya Sultan Abdul Halim also graced the event.

Also present were Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and wife Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Rural and Regional Development Dato' Seri DiRaja Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Jeneral Dato’ Seri Diraja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin (Bersara) and wife Toh Puan Datin Seri Diraja Puan Sri Rasiah Mohd Noor.

Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad and wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubir, Perak State Assembly Speaker Dato' Mohammad Zahir Dato' Abdul Khalid and wife Datin Aznee Abu Samah, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin and State Financial Officer Mohd Zaki Mahyudin also attended.

The event, organised by the state government, was lively with the presence of more than 40,000 visitors from all over Perak.

In conjunction with the celebration, visitors could enter the theme park for free from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad in his speech said that Malaysians regardless of race and religion can now re-experience the joy of Chinese New Year celebration after three years of celebrating it in a gloomy atmosphere due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This year, the celebration brings back the tradition of visiting and open houses.

"The year of the rabbit, associated with ingenuity, intelligence and calmness, is not only an image of the spirit of unity of the people of various races, but also a symbol of our unity to rise and rebuild the state and country from the obstacles of the pandemic," he said.

 He said the spirit of unity and togetherness of Malaysians was the key to the country's survival when faced with the dangerous pandemic. 

However, he said, many signs indicated that the year 2023 will be filled with tests and obstacles, especially the global economic outlook which is expected to experience a recession, thus triggering all kinds of uncertainty. 

He added that these challenges required the state and federal governments to continue to work hand in hand to ensure the continuous stability of the country. 

"Next, to focus fully on efforts to revive the economy and create a policy that can guide the people to face the challenges ahead," he elaborated. 

He said, the state government will make all the Perak Sultan’s decrees a guideline for governing the state. 

"His Royal Highness’ pearls of wisdom and quotes, which always touches the conscience of the people regardless of background, will be a guide for me and the entire administrative machinery in executing efforts and endeavours for the prosperity and wellbeing of Perak. 

"The Prosperous Perak 2030 Plan together with the Malaysia Madani concept, which was inspired by the Prime Minister, hopefully will shower Perak in particular and Malaysia in general, with peace and the blessings of progress," he said. 

Their Royal Highnesses also joined in tossing 'Yee Sang' as a symbolic celebration of the festival, before giving out angpau to 66 orphans from three orphanages in Ipoh, Taiping and Kuala Kangsar. 

Guests were also entertained with various performances, including lion dance, dragon dance and beating of drums. 

The reception then was followed by dance performances from the Selendang Perak Group, cultural organisations and Ipoh Chinese Orchestra.
