MANJUNG, 21 August 2023 - The state government through the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (SADC) has launched the Perak Halal Industrial Park@Lekir (Perak HIP) at Batu 9 Lekir, Mukim Lekir, which will be operational in 2025.

The launch was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Perak Halal Industrial Park@Lekir Project this morning.

Dato’ Seri Saarani said the 106.57-acre project will be the heart of the new economy and a platform for entrepreneurs and halal business owners to bring their products to the global market.

"This is a continuation of the local cattle programme implemented by Perak SADC since 2022 with the main goal of increasing halal meat production in Malaysia; strengthening a sustainable and integrity-based supply chain, providing added value to meat production, as well as expanding the reach of Perak’s halal products", he said.

He added that this development will provide opportunities for companies looking for strategic locations, advanced facilities and an ecosystem that supports growth and innovation to jointly participate in Perak HIP in the future.

"Gross Development Value (GDV) is expected to reach RM1 billion and will offer competitive industrial land prices comparable to other industrial areas.

"Perak SADC is also committed to invest a total of RM20 million within the first 2 years, including for the construction of a flyover to connect the West Coast Expressway (WCE) directly to Perak HIP to ensure smooth logistics," he said at a press conference.

At the same event, there was also a handover of a mock cheque of RM20 million from Agrobank to Perak SADC to finance the participants involved in the Perak HIP. 

Also held was the submission of a letter of support for the Perak HIP proposed development between Maybank Islamic Berhad and Perak SADC, as well as an entrepreneur memorandum between Perak Agro Farm Sdn Bhd, Ladang Lekir Sdn Bhd and Eurofresh Sdn Bhd for the development of the local cattle industry. 

Perak SADC Chief Executive Officer Yahanis Yahya said the Perak HIP is not just an ordinary industrial park. 

"It is a park that will be equipped with a meat processing centre, a slaughtering and processing complex, a Halal Meat R&D centre, a chicken processing centre and an animal food processing plant; this park will be a hub of excellence in the halal food industry," he said. 

Also present were Manjung Territorial Chief Toh Seri Bijaya Lt. Col. (B) Dato' Shaharudin Nazari, Manjung District Officer Shamsul Ridzuan Idris, State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee Chairman Dato' Mohd Zolkafly Harun and State Tourism, Investment Industry and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee.
