HRH Sultan Of Perak Takes Oath As Deputy Yang Di-Pertuan Agong For The Third Time.

IPOH, 1 February 2024 – HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah yesterday took the oath of office as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the third time, a role the Ruler has performed with distinction since 2016.
During the 263rd (Special) Meeting of the Conference of Rulers last October, HM Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar was elected as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, while HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah was re-elected as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term starting on 31 January.
Both Sultan Ibrahim and Sultan Nazrin took their oath and signed the instrument of office at the Oath-Taking and Signing the Instrument of Office Ceremony as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Balairong Seri, Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The re-appointment of HRH Sultan of Perak as Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong is a testament of his dedication in carrying out his responsibilities to the royal institution as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
His Royal Highness had served as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong when HM Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V ascended the throne as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 2016 and retained the role during HM Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s reign as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 2019.
HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah was born on 27 November 1956 in Georgetown, Penang.
His Royal Highness was proclaimed as HH Raja Muda Perak in April 1987 and upon the demise of his father, HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah in 2014, he ascended the throne as Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan.
