IPOH, 8 May 2024 - State Secretary (SS) Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim and State Financial Officer (SFO) Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin were appointed as the Perak Contingent Chef de Mission (CDM) and Deputy CDM to the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 from 17 to 24 August in Sarawak.

During the announcement, Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad said that the SUKMA contingent would be incomplete without the 'commander' of the Perak contingent in Sarawak later.

"Therefore, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim as Chef De Mission and Dato' Mohd Zaki Mahyudin as Deputy Chef De Mission of the Perak contingent to the SUKMA games in Bumi Kenyalang in August.

"I am very confident, with both their experience, they are capable of steering the Perak contingent to deliver the best performance," he said.

He said this in his welcome speech at the Perak Sports Excellence Incentive Presentation Ceremony and Sarawak SUKMA XXI 2024 100-Day Countdown at Galasa Caldwell here.

Also present were State Legal Adviser Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Education, Higher Education, Youth and State Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah, State Exco Members, Perak Sports Council director Mazlan Mohamad and heads of state and federal departments.

Dato' Seri Saarani added that he hoped the Perak contingent will bring glory to the state and win as many gold medals as possible at the SUKMA games.

"However, I would like to remind all the state athletes to take care of themselves and the good name of the state while away from home.

"Show an attitude that can be an example to other athletes, and most importantly, stay away from the negative influences that can undermine performance and destroy the dreams and aspirations of athletes," he said.

At the event, he presented incentives totalling RM24,350 to 26 athletes for excellent performances in eight sports, i.e. lawn bowling, swimming, diving, chess, boxing, tenpin bowling, cycling, para cycling and a state women cricket team.
