Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad’s arrival is welcomed by Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim

IPOH, 25 November 2025 – HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah graced the Dinner Reception in conjunction with the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Men’s International Hockey Tournament 31st Edition, 2025 at the Royal Perak Golf Club (RPGC) tonight.

Also gracing the occasion was HRH Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.

The dinner was a platform for familiarisation and friendliness among the participating teams and state leaders, besides providing an opportunity for the Sultan to engage with the international and local guests visiting Perak.

The tournament carries great significance as it commemorates the services and legacy of the Sultan’s father, the late Sultan Azlan Shah, a figure synonymous with efforts to elevate national hockey and is respected at the world level.

The prestigious tournament saw the participation of six international teams, namely Belgium, India, New Zealand, Malaysia, South Korea and Canada.

In his speech, Perak Hockey Association (PHA) President Dato’ Mohd. Sayuti Abdul Samad expressed his deepest gratitude to the Sultan for gracing the dinner, describing it as a great source of inspiration to the international hockey community.

He also expressed appreciation for the Sultan’s attention and support towards the development of the country’s hockey, which is an important encouragement in efforts to elevate Malaysian hockey on the international stage.

He then welcomed all participating teams and stressed that the tournament was not only a prestigious competition, but also a platform to foster friendship and strengthen international cooperation.

The event continued with the presentation of souvenirs, dinner and stage performances.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad and wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja, Gen. (Rtd) Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd. Zahidi Zainuddin and State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim and wife Datin Che Fauziah Ahmad.

State Legal Adviser Dato’ Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer Dato’ Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee Chairman Dato’ Khairudin Abu Hanipah, international hockey players and Malaysian national hockey players competing in the prestigious tournament were also present.
