IPOH, 27 November 2025 – Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad today received a courtesy visit from HE Jodi Robinson, High Commissioner of Canada to Malaysia, during an official meeting at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.

The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between Perak and Canada, as well as to discuss potential cooperation in strategic areas that could benefit the state’s development.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on current and global issues, while also exploring opportunities for collaboration in investment, green technology, smart city development and sharing expertise in the innovation and advanced technology sectors.

Canada is one of the high-technology nations and possesses one of the best innovation development ecosystems in the world.

Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad also highlighted the potential for expanding trade relations, which is expected to strengthen economic networks between Perak and Canada, thereby opening up more investment opportunities and job prospects for the people of the state.

The Perak State Government is optimistic that this effort to expand international diplomatic and economic relations is in line with the state’s development aspirations towards Perak Sejahtera 2030.

Also present were State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee, State Land and Mines (PTG) Director Dato’ Fariz Mohamad Hanip and State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) Deputy Sectoral Director I Kumaresan A/L Lingam.
